HOW TO BE A HARP MEMBER

The Hotels Restaurants in Pampanga was born in 1968 from its original name Angeles City Hotel & Restaurant Association (ACHRA) with 15 members. On 1975, Clark Air Base encouraged local hotel entrepreneurs to develop and establish more hotels in Angeles City. In 1984, more hotels, entertainment shops and restaurants were opened. More members joined the association and later on renamed it to Angeles City and Mabalacat Hotel Association (ACMHA). After the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in June 1991, the Department of Tourism Director Ronnie Tiotuico convinced the association to revive and promote Angeles City. Sixteen of the remaining members of ACMHA assembled and re-organized the organization and became Hotels and Restaurants Association in Pampanga (HARP).

Now, it is being recognized as a chapter member of the Hotels & Restaurants Association of the Philippines (HRAP). HARP’s Meetings are attended by over eighty owners and managers of hotels, restaurants, travel agencies & transport groups from Angeles City, Clark and Pampanga. HARP members tackle current issues related to tourism, economics, security and alike. Its mission is to unite hotel and restaurant business owners, to act as liaison between HARP members and government institutions, to improve the quality of service among the businesses and most importantly, to promote tourism and business activities in the area.

How to be a member

All hotels, restaurants & resorts located within Pampanga province can be a member. Travel agencies, transport groups, schools, hotel & restaurant suppliers can also be a member.

1. TRAININGS & SEMINARS - HARP conducts trainings and seminars about Customer Service, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Marketing Techniques, Sustainability, Ethics, Legislation and more. General Membership Meetings happens every 3rd Wednesday of each month.

2. GOOD BUSINESS – Since HARP is pushing itself to be the One-Stop Organization in Pampanga, Group Booking Requests from different associations outside Pampanga are forwarded to HARP and then distributed to HARP members. Also, HARP’s monthly meetings are done in different establishments (hotels/ restaurants) of HARP members.

3. PROMOTION - HARP regularly goes outbound to different parts of the Philippines (like Davao, Palawan, Baguio & etc.) and outside the country (Malaysia, Thailand & etc.) to promote the Hotels and Restaurants in Pampanga. All members will also be included in the HARP Directory given to stakeholders.

4. AIRPORT VISIBILITY - HARP has its own booth at the Arrival area of Clark International Airport. All members may put their brochures and promo collaterals in the HARP booth. Also, the association assists in the emergency diverted flights in Clark Airport.

5. SAFETY & SECURITY - Strong working relationship with Local Government and Local Police. HARP invites law enforcement personnel as guest speakers to give briefings on terrorist procedures, drug enforcement and tourist safety.

6. ACCREDITATION - HARP is an active partner of the Department of Tourism Region 3, is also active in the different activities of DOT – North Philippines Expo, Familiarization Tour, Trainings & Seminars and more. There is a bigger chance to be accredited by DOT if you are a member of HARP.

7. INTER-ORGANIZATION - HARP is affiliated with other Tourism Sectors, Hotel and Restaurant Association of the Philippines (HRAP), Pampanga Agents Travel Society (PATS) and Association of Tour and Travel Agencies of Pampanga (ATTAP). We work together to develop a common objective of increasing inbound tourists.

8. SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY – HARP is your company’s way to contribute to the society. It also doing outreach programs and events geared toward improving the standards of the Hotels and Restaurants in Pampanga.

9. VOICE IN GOVERNMENT – Since HARP is a SEC Registered Organization with a NGO status, we have a voice in local government legislation. All concerns of members are forwarded to the government officials and discussed in hearings.

10. AFFORDABLE MEMBERSHIP - Annual Membership Fee is P2, 500, plus monthly assessment dues to cover lunch meal meetings of P500.00.
